Two charged after multiple robberies on University of Tennessee campus

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WATE) – Two people have been charged after multiple robberies in Knoxville.

The Knoxville Police Department shared that Brandon Donathan25, and Sarai StandridgeAt the age of 24, both from Knoxville were taken into custody after an attempted robbery in West Knoxville. They were taken to the Public Security Complex for further questioning. KPD said this led to them being linked to three robbery incidents near the University of Tennessee campus.

On Sunday, October 27, around 4:10 p.m., KPD responded to the area of ​​Luscombe Drive and Pocanno Road for a report of a man in black attempting to rob a resident at gunpoint. KPD said another resident shared video of the incident, which showed the man leaving in a white sedan. A short time later, officers spotted the sedan on Luscombe Drive. KPD said officers stopped the vehicle and detained the occupants, identified as Donathan and Standridge.

KPD said the robberies the two are accused of include a robbery near 11th Street and Cumberland Avenue, where a 22-year-old woman was robbed of her bag around 1:45 am on Sunday.

The pair were also involved in two other robberies, which were only reported to the KPD on Sunday afternoon. According to KPD, a victim told police that a man, identified as Donathan, tried to rob him at gunpoint around 1:10 a.m. Sunday in the area of ​​Clinch Avenue and 22nd Street. The other victim told KPD that a man, identified as Donathan, tried to rob her around 1:30 a.m. Sunday around Clinch Avenue and 17th Street.

Both have been charged with attempted aggravated robbery over the incident in Luscombe. Donathan was also charged with additional counts of theft or attempted theft, in addition to possession of a firearm during the commission of a dangerous crime. KPD added that additional charges are expected for Standridge.
