Man arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence of drugs, while passenger was seriously injured

Police have arrested a man on suspicion of drug driving after a passenger was seriously injured in a crash on the North Circular early on Monday morning.

Officers investigating the crash on the North Circular at 3.21am near the Crooked Billet Interchange said both the driver and a passenger were injured in the collision.

When emergency services and paramedics arrived on scene, they found two men trapped in the vehicle.

Both were taken to hospital, where the driver’s injuries were not considered life-threatening. He was later arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol and drugs and dangerous driving

He is still being held for questioning, a police spokesperson said.

The passenger remains in hospital with life-changing injuries.
