An armed man was shot past St. Paul Police On Monday evening, he was taken to a hospital in the Hamline-Midway area with life-threatening injuries, authorities said.

What we know

St. Paul police said just before 7:45 p.m., officers were dispatched to a reported shooting near the 400 block of Pierce Street. People also called 911 about reported gunfire near Snelling and University Avenue.

When officers arrived in the area, police found a man they said was armed with a handgun pointing the gun at his head. The man did not comply when asked to put down the firearm, police said, and continued walking on Snelling Avenue before walking around the intersection at University Avenue West.

Officers say the man was transported to Regions Hospital for treatment of life-threatening injuries and remains in critical condition. No officers were injured in the incident.
