Three more arrested in connection with the murder of women from Joburg’s south

So far, four men have been arrested in connection with the murder of Hester Flemming (52) and her mother, Cecilia Johanna Flemming (82), in Eikenhof.

One suspect was arrested Sunday morning and found in possession of some of the stolen property that went missing during the Oct. 25 home invasion.

During the home invasion, the Flemish people were taken from their home. The search and rescue operation then began for the two women.

Their bodies were discovered on October 28.

Three more suspects were arrested on Monday after following up on leads, and more stolen property was also recovered.

The suspects led police to an old, abandoned farmhouse with a large hole in the back.

The old house is located next to the Jackson informal settlement. It was found that the property is being used by zama zamas for illegal mining.

The bodies were discovered in the hole and brought to the surface. The motive for the robbery and murder has yet to be determined.

According to a member of Mike Bolhuis’s task team, the suspects could be charged with, among other things, robbery and theft, kidnapping and now also murder. The suspect carrying the stolen property may also be charged with possession of stolen property.

Depending on the outcome of the autopsy process, more charges may be imposed at a later stage.

The possibility that more suspects are involved cannot be ruled out.

Private investigator Mike Bolhuis of Specialized Security Services said that since the women were reported missing, every lead was pursued and countless hours were spent on the case.

One of his task teams said: “The SAPS investigation team is working hard to get to the bottom of the story. We urge anyone with information to come forward and share information. All information will be treated confidentially.”
