Charges have been dropped against a woman accused of hiding a suspect after an armed robbery

JONESBORO, Ark. (KAIT) – A woman accused of hiding a suspect after a robbery at gunpoint will not face charges.

Second Circuit Court Judge Randy Philhours ruled on Monday, October 28, that the charges against 24-year-old Margarita Jasmine Rocha cannot be dismissed.

According to court documents, prosecutor Sonia Hagood said in an order that “it is in the best interests of the parties that this crime not be prosecuted.” Philhours signed the order.

Rocha faced aggravated robbery and hindering apprehension or prosecution after police said she lied about 20-year-old Daquon Kentrell McCarther not being at her apartment after he stole a victim’s car at gunpoint back in September. She later confessed that McCarther was hiding inside.

Court documents state that McCarther’s trial is scheduled for Monday, December 9 through Friday, December 13, with a motion and plea day set for Friday, November 15. He is charged with aggravated robbery and theft of a vehicle valued at $25,000 or more.
