Lil Durk booked flights to check for warrants, not to flee, Kodak Black’s lawyer claims

Bradford Cohen, attorney for rapper Kodak Black, suggested that Lil Durk may have been trying to confirm whether there was an active arrest warrant for him. According to Cohen, Durk allegedly booked three international flights to depart from the US on the day he was detained, October 24, 2024. However, the FBI alleged that Lil Durk attempted to flee the country when he was apprehended at Miami airport. .

Cohen shared this theory on the Law & Crime Network YouTube channel on October 29, 2024, commenting on the unusual number of flights Durk had booked. He added: “I don’t really care whether or not he would escape and flee the country. I think more than likely and sometimes this happens. It is unusual that so many (flights) have been booked. What is not unusual is sometimes an individual does not know whether or not there is a warrant for his or her arrest.”

He explained that in his experience, people often book international flights to check if they are wanted, as the process could alert authorities if a warrant exists. The lawyer noted that because arrest warrants are not always public, people sometimes use international bookings to see if there is a “red flag.”

Lil Durk was taken into custody last week on charges of “murder for hire,” with authorities claiming he plotted to kill rapper Quando Rondo. Rondo was reportedly the intended target in a 2022 shooting in Los Angeles that resulted in the death of his cousin, Lul Pab. Authorities believe this was an act of revenge for the 2020 death of King Von, who was fatally shot after a confrontation between his group and Rondo’s in Atlanta.

As reported by HipHop DX, Lil Durk reportedly booked three international flights that left on the day he was arrested. FBI Special Agent Sarah Corcoran explained in an affidavit that Lil Durk had arranged two one-way trips: one from Miami to Dubai and another from Fort Lauderdale to Switzerland, both scheduled for October 24, 2024.

The special agent further stated that the federal agency was notified of these bookings by U.S. Customs and Border Protection. One flight was a one-way from Miami to Dubai with a stop in Doha, Qatar, scheduled for the evening of October 24, 2024. The second was a one-way from Fort Lauderdale to Switzerland, with a connection in New Jersey, also scheduled for the evening of October 24, 2024.
