Here’s the latest on Yankees manager Aaron Boone and his contract situation

The New York Yankees take the field on Wednesday evening in Game 5 of the World Series against the Los Angeles Dodgers.

Despite a convincing 11-4 win on Tuesday, the Yankees still trail 3-1 in the best-of-seven series. If New York can come back and win the series, they will be the first team in history to come back from a 3-0 deficit in the Fall Classic.

While the present is certainly the most important for New York, the future became a little clearer Wednesday afternoon.

Per Jon Heyman from the New York Post regarding manager Aaron Boone’s contract status:

The Yankees have an option on Aaron Boone through 2025, and it’s expected they’ll pick it up anyway.

That shouldn’t be a surprise, considering he took the Yankees to their first World Series in fifteen years.

Yeah, that shouldn’t be a surprise. Boone led the Yankees to a 94-68 record this season and posted a 603-429 record in his seven seasons with the Yankees. He has made the playoffs in six of his seven seasons, although that is seen as a disappointment by some considering he has yet to win the World Series.

Boone’s work with New York was admirable considering he had to deal with injuries to Giancarlo Stanton for several years and also faced a disappointing pitching staff for years. However, with recent investments in Carlos Rodon and Aaron Judge, the future is looking increasingly bright New York.

Things will look even brighter if they keep Juan Soto in free agency this season.

The first pitch on Wednesday is set for 8:08 PM ET.
