Chesterfield County man accused of possessing child pornography on his phone

CHESTERFIELD, S.C. (QUEEN CITY NEWS) – A Chesterfield County man was arrested this month after officers say he possessed pornographic images of local children.

According to the Chesterfield County Sheriff’s Office, investigator Brittany Robinson began investigating allegations of sexual exploitation involving a minor on October 10, which subsequently led to the execution of a search warrant.

The investigation allegedly revealed that the suspect, 53-year-old Joey Samuel Ammons, of Chesterfield, possessed child pornography on his mobile device, including images of community-identified minors. Authorities believe Ammons may have been hunting victims for a long time.

During the execution of the search warrant, police seized several electronic devices, along with three firearms, which Ammons is not legally allowed to possess.

Ammons is currently being held at the Chesterfield County Detention Center. The investigation has resulted in the issuance of multiple arrest warrants for sexual exploitation of a minor in the first, second and third degrees, and more arrest warrants are expected.

Individuals who suspect they may have been victimized by Ammons are encouraged to contact the Chesterfield County Sheriff’s Office at 843-623-2101 or contact Robinson at [email protected].
