“Maybe one day we’ll get her here, she’s a busy woman and Travis (Kelce) is a busy man,” Mahomes said.

“So maybe we’ll get her to a Kansas City Current game during the season or something like that. She loves supporting Kansas City, as do we, and I’m sure Brittany can give her a little push and get her here pretty easily.”

Kelce finally made it to a competition in August.

Mahomes bought a minority stake in the Royals in 2020.

“I am honored to become part owner of the Kansas City Royals,” Mahomes said in a statement after joining the franchise.

“I love this city and the people of this great city. This opportunity allows me to deepen my roots in this community, something I enjoy doing.”

The WNBA is in full expansion mode, with new teams slated to launch in the Bay Area under the Golden State Warriors ownership group and a Toronto franchise under the purview of the Raptors owners.

There is stiff competition with Kansas City for what would be the 16th franchise in the WNBA, as other ownership groups have reportedly submitted bids from Austin, Charlotte, Cleveland, Denver, Milwaukee, Nashville and Philadelphia, as well as Central and South Florida.
