Biden’s past comments come back to haunt him as WH makes ‘garbage’ comments

If White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre tried to spin President Biden’s comment calling Trump supporters “trash” by saying the “president for everyone” would never speak ill of people who support Trump. Biden’s past comments about MAGA Republicans continue to haunt him.

During a press conference on Wednesday, Jean-Pierre insisted that Biden was not calling Trump supporters nonsense, but instead called comedian Tony Hinchcliffe’s joke about Puerto Rico “nonsense.”

“He doesn’t view Trump supporters or anyone who supports Trump as trash. That’s not what he sees,” the press secretary said of Biden.

“He has said several times that he is a president for everyone. It doesn’t matter if you live in a red state, it doesn’t matter if you live in a blue state. He said it himself. I said it on his behalf. He believes he is a president for everyone. And it doesn’t matter who you voted for, whether you voted for him or not. And this is something we’ve done many times from here. We will bring that up.

During a virtual conversation with Voto Latino, Biden was asked about Trump’s rally at Madison Square Garden, which made headlines after Hinchcliffe told a joke calling Puerto Rico a “floating island of trash.”

He responded by saying: ‘Donald Trump has no character. He doesn’t care about the Latino community. He is a failed businessman. He only cares about the billionaire friends he has and amassing wealth for those at the top. He says immigrants are poisoning the blood of our country – give me a break. He wants to abolish birthright. Who the hell said that in the last hundred years? And recently, a speaker at his meeting called Puerto Rico a “floating island of trash.” Well, let me tell you something. I don’t know – I – I don’t know a Puerto Rican that – that I know – or a Puerto Rico, where I’m from – in my home state of Delaware, they’re good, decent, honorable people. The only trash I see floating out there are his supporters – his demonization of Latinos is unconscionable and un-American. It’s completely at odds with everything we’ve done, everything we’ve been.”

Now the White House is insisting that Biden wouldn’t speak ill of people who support Trump, but his past comments about MAGA Republicans seem to say otherwise.

September 5, 2022 – Laborfest, Milwaukee, Wisconsin

On September 5, 2022, Biden gave a Labor Day speech to workers in Milwaukee, where he went after MAGA Republicans and Trump supporters.

WHITE HOUSE DENIES BIDEN CALLED TRUMP SUPPORTERS ‘WASTE’

“Look, extreme MAGA Republicans not only threaten our personal rights and our economic security, they embrace political violence,” Biden said before trying to clarify that he was only talking about MAGA Republicans and not all Republicans. “The definition of democracy is that you accept the will of the people if the votes are counted fairly. These guys don’t do it.”

He continued, referencing the January 6, 2021 riot at the US Capitol in Washington, DC, saying MAGA Republicans in Congress continue to defend the “mob” that stormed the building that day.

“This was an attack on American democracy,” he said. “We must be stronger and more determined and more committed to saving American democracy than the MAGA Republicans and that guy… who is destroying democracy because democracy is at stake.”

September 9, 2022 – Democratic National Committee, Forest Heights, Maryland

Speaking at the Gaylord National Resort and Convention Center in Forest Heights, Maryland, on September 9, 2022, Biden sharpened his attacks against Trump and MAGA Republicans because they are a threat to democracy.

TRUMP CALLS FOR SUPPORT FOR BIDEN ‘FORGIVENESS’ AS SHOW OF UNITY AFTER PRESIDENT CALLS SUPPORTERS ‘ABBABY’

“Extreme MAGA Republicans simply do not pose a threat to our personal and economic rights; they embrace political violence,” the president said. ‘Think about it. They refuse to accept the will of the people. They threaten our democracy. They — and this is no exaggeration — to this day defend the mob that stormed the Capitol on January 6.”

October 23, 2022 – Interview with MSNBC

During an October 23, 2022 interview with MSNBC’s Jonathan Capehart, Biden called out “mega MAGA” Republicans who “think it’s okay to threaten violence.”

“I think we’re at one of those turning points in history where we’ve reached a point where there has been such division that you have what I call the mega-MAGA Republicans, who think it’s it’s okay to threaten violence… I don’t think that’s inappropriate, talk about how concerned they are about security, but yet you saw what happened on January 6, the whole world saw it.

BIDEN CALLS TRUMP SUPPORTERS ‘WASTE’ DURING HARRIS CAMPAIGN EVENT, WHEN VP PROMISES UNITY AT ELLIPSE RALLY

He said the country had a leader who concluded that the truth did not matter, and then used the old-modern version of “the old racist form of lashing out” that was seen 40 to 50 years ago and which, according to Biden didn’t take it seriously.

September 28, 2023 – Campaign Reception in Tempe, Arizona

Biden attended a campaign reception in Tempe, Arizona, on September 28, 2023, where he again singled out MAGA supporters and accused them of being a threat to democracy.

“Their extreme agenda, if implemented, would fundamentally change the institutions of American democracy as we know them,” Biden said of the MAGA Republicans. “My friends, they do not hide their attacks; they openly promote them. They attack the free press as the enemy of the people. They attack the rule of law as an obstacle. Incitement to voter suppression and election subversion.

“This MAGA threat is a threat to the physical fabric of our democratic institutions,” he later told attendees. “It is also a threat to the character of our nation that gives life to our Constitution, that binds us together as Americans, in common cause. However, all this is not surprising. They’ve tried to rule that way before. Thank God they didn’t succeed. But they haven’t given up.”

When asked about the contradictions between Jean-Pierre’s statements Wednesday and Biden’s past comments against MAGA Republicans, the White House referred Fox News Digital to a speech the president made on September 1, 2022.

“Donald Trump and the MAGA Republicans represent an extremism that threatens the foundations of our republic,” Biden said at the time.

“Now I want to be very clear… very clear up front: not every Republican, not even the majority of Republicans, are MAGA Republicans. Not every Republican embraces their extreme ideology. I know because I was able to work with this one. regular Republicans,” the president continued. “But there is no doubt that the Republican Party today is dominated, driven and intimidated by Donald Trump and the MAGA Republicans, and that is a threat to this country.”
