Man suspected of attempted bank robbery arrested

SAN DIEGO (FOX 5/KUSI) – A man was arrested Tuesday after an attempted bank robbery in Ocean Beach, authorities said.

The incident occurred in the 1800 block of Sunset Cliffs Boulevard around 3:41 p.m., Officer Buttle of the San Diego Police Department said in a news release.

Police say a man in his 30s, wearing all black clothing and a backpack, walked into the bank and handed a demand note to the teller. The cashier then activated the hold-up alarm.

The suspect took the note back and left when he realized he wasn’t getting any money, SDPD said.

Officers at the scene arrested a man matching the suspect’s description. Bank employees identified the suspect in a line on the sidewalk.
