What are Agile, Charged, and Final attacks in Dragon Age: The Veilguard

Agile, Charged and Final attacks can all be improved in Dragon Age: The Veilguard to really boost your damage output.

There’s a lot of combat terminology in Dragon Age: The Veilguard. You’ll see all kinds of words thrown around about weapons, perks, and armor. In this guide, I’ll explain Agile, Charged, and Final attacks and what they actually are.

You’ll likely see all three of these listed on skill nodes as you level up your character and choose new skills, but with little explanation as to what they actually are.

Let’s break them all down to get a full understanding of how to benefit from them in battle.

  • Agile Attacks – Any attack that activates during a dash, jump, or dodge. These can be any light, heavy or even ranged attacks you can perform. They also include perfect dodges and advanced dodges (two dodges in quick succession). The trick here is to take full advantage by always sprinting between objectives, jumping on enemies and attacking via dodges to gain potential bonuses.
  • Charged attacks – these are powerful attacks that deal extra damage and interrupt enemy actions. They are performed by holding down the attack button and then releasing it, which opens the loaded attack animation.
  • Final Attacks – These are the final attacks in an attack chain or combination. So if you want to build in strong finishing attacks, you also don’t want to use skills, weapons, or perks that increase the length of combos, as the longer time between improved finishing attacks will counteract your potential DPS increase.

A good example of an ability that affects all three is the Decisive Finish ability in the Burst section of the Rogue skill tree. Each attack type takes 10% passive damage from this node.

You can stack nodes and their effects to double certain attack types. Decisive Finale allows you to add a final heavy attack to a light attack chain, giving you not only extra heavy damage, but also an additional 10%.
