Don't throw away expired COVID tests, they probably still work

(CNN) – You may not have to throw away your expired COVID home tests just yet.

The Food and Drug Administration encourages people to check website for renewals before you throw away potentially perfectly good tests as they approach their expiration date.

The latest round of free test orders is only a month away, but some people have reported that some tests are nearing their expiration dates.

This is the seventh round of free rapid antigen tests from the federal government.

The FDA says the expiration date is the date by which the test is expected to perform as accurately as when it was manufactured.
