Nabi calm amid Mfundo Vilakazi injury concerns

Nabi calm amid Mfundo Vilakazi’s injury concerns as anticipation builds for next exciting encounter.

The Kaizer Chiefs head coach is eagerly looking forward to another exciting clash against Mamelodi Sundowns this Saturday. The two teams meet for the second time this season, following a competitive 2-1 defeat to Chiefs at the FNB Stadium earlier. With both teams eyeing the Carling Knockout title, the stakes couldn’t be higher in what promises to be a sold-out stadium.

Nabi commented: “If you remember the last game against Mamelodi Sundowns it was a… I feel it was a good football match with entertainment, technical and tactical on both sides.” His optimism sets the stage for an enthralling match as both teams look to secure victory and move forward.

Pressure of high expectations

The winner will likely challenge for the Knockouts titleNabi understands the pressure, but has a confident outlook. “Sundowns have been one of the biggest teams in Africa in recent years. There is no need for us to be Chiefs, we come in with confidence and we will do everything we can to win this match (to reach the semi-finals). We are confident in our abilities for Saturday,” he stated, underscoring his team’s determination.

Despite recent problems conceding early goals, Nabi dismisses any concerns. He explains: “About the nerves, there is nothing, no nerves. Sometimes they look at the bench because they are looking for some encouragement, because what happened in the match was probably not planned.” This insight reveals the strong bond between the coaching staff and the players as they prepare for the crucial encounter.

Injury updates: Key players return

Nabi also provided positive news about the team’s injury situation. George Matlou and Mduduzi Mdantsane have returned to training, while Mfundo Vilakazi did not sustain a serious injury. Earlier in July, Chiefs announced that Mdantsane had suffered a broken jaw in a car accident and was expected to be sidelined for three months. Matlou underwent knee surgery and has been recovering since last season.

“It is true that these players have been injured for quite some time. They are all done with the injury and are now recovering, integrating with the group, training, but we have to be careful how we integrate them,” Nabi noted. He emphasized the importance of gradually reintroducing players to match their fitness.

Peace amid worries for Vilakazi

Allaying concerns over teenage sensation Mfundo Vilakazi, who left the field limping during the recent 2-2 draw against Magesi, Nabi reassured the fans. “Mfundo, we don’t believe it is an injury. They were just cramps from fatigue. He has been running a lot and we think he will be fine,” he said, allaying concerns about the young player’s condition.

As the clock ticks down to the highly anticipated match in Soweto at 6pm. All eyes will be on Kaizer Chiefs as they aim for a crucial win against their formidable rivals, Mamelodi Sundowns.
