Indianapolis man arrested with more than four pounds of meth

TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) – An Indianapolis man is facing drug charges after a traffic stop on I-70.

According to the Terre Haute Police Department, Colton Norton, 31, of Indianapolis, was arrested with the assistance of the Indiana State Police and the Terre Haute Police Department K9 Unit. Norton was stopped on Interstate 70 in Terre Haute.

Police noted that THPD K9 alerted Rocky to the presence of illegal narcotics in Norton’s vehicle during the stop. After the warning, Norton attempted to flee the scene by jumping over a concrete barrier along the highway. K9 Rocky was quickly deployed and successfully apprehended Norton near the highway shoulder.

THPD noted that a subsequent search of the vehicle led to the discovery of more than four pounds of methamphetamine and a handgun that was easily accessible to Norton. Norton was charged with trafficking methamphetamine and possession of methamphetamine.

A jury trial is scheduled for January 27, 2025.
