COLUMBIA, SC (WOLO) – Halloween wouldn’t be complete without costumes and a little trick-or-treating.

That’s why staff at Prisma Health Children’s Hospital brought the candy straight to the children during their annual Halloween parade Thursday morning.

The parade continues to grow in size, with nearly 200 team members making their way through the halls of the children’s hospital for what they call reverse-trick-or-treating.

More than 30 groups of doctors, nurses, specialists and staff dress up and hand out sweets and treats to ensure that the children have a good time.

And when it comes to costumes, there’s no shortage of creativity.

The Care Bears, Scooby-Doo and the gang, and Beetlejuice are seen making their rounds along with the Sanderson sisters from ‘Hocus Pocus’ and the chefs from ‘Ratatouille’.

But patient Roman Conrad says his favorite is the Harry Potter team.

His message to the other patients? “Never give up.”

Devon Osborne’s daughter Harmony has been in the hospital for two weeks now. He thinks the parade makes things a little easier.

‘It gives you the feeling that there is still hope in the world. Every time you see the news, something bad is happening. When this happens it really makes you think that nice people still exist,” says Osborne.

Prisma Health Children’s Hospital reports more than 150,000 pediatric visits annually, with more than 350 professionals available to patients.
