Tobias Harris reacts to the Detroit Pistons’ win over the Philadelphia 76ers

On Wednesday evening. emotions were running high for Tobias Harris and the Detroit Pistons. Not only did they get their first win of the season, but the experienced striker also managed to gain the lead over his former team.

Before signing with the Pistons in free agency this summer, Harris spent the past half-decade as a member of the Philadelphia 76ers. His contract and constantly changing role made him a bit of a polarizing figure during his time there. Now, just a few months after signing with a team, Harris found himself back in his old stomping grounds.

Harris made his presence felt in the Pistons’ 105-95 win over the Sixers. He posted his first double-double of the season, tallying 18 points and 14 rebounds. This performance was by far his best performance early in his second stint in Detroit.

After Wednesday’s win, Harris asked what it was like for the Pistons to get their first win. He stated that the team’s spirits were high, but did not shy away from admitting that the losing streak was weighing on them.

“This is clearly something for the whole group, whether you say it or not, it has put a heavy burden on us to get the first W. So to go out there, execute the game plan and just be cooped up all night. .” said Harris. “It was a collective effort and those are some of the best wins. These are always victories with a very good feeling for us as a whole collective group.”

Harris also addressed the reception he received from the Philly crowd in his first game back. The Sixers did play a tribute video for him, but paired it with Paul Reed when he too returned.

“I thought the reception was great. There’s obviously going to be boos, there’s obviously going to be people cheering. It’s like that with any type of reception,” Harris continued. “This is a crowd that’s rooting for their own team, that’s just how it is. I thought I did a good job tonight to stay with it all night. I didn’t let it pass me, I Just really embraced my team and these guys.”

The early return did give Harris the opportunity to quickly put that chapter of his career behind him. Going forward, he will continue to be a leader for the Pistons both on and off the floor.
