Two teens injured after car crashes into Amish buggy in Hillsdale County

LANSING, Mich. (WILX) – Two Hillsdale County teenagers were injured when a car crashed into an Amish buggy Thursday morning. The Hillsdale County Sheriff’s Office said the crash happened around 11 a.m. on S Hillsdale Rd near Rodgers Rd.

The buggy driver, 19-year-old Viola Schwartz of Hillsdale, and a 14-year-old passenger were injured in the crash. As the car was traveling northbound on S Hillsdale Rd, it was struck by the car also traveling northbound. Both the 14-year-old and Schwartz were taken to the hospital for treatment. The extent of their injuries is unknown at this time.

The car, a 2018 Ford Focus, was driven by 73-year-old Peter Miller. Miller told deputies he couldn’t see the car because of the shadow covering the road. Miller was not injured and was wearing his seat belt at the time of the crash. The Sheriff’s Office has not said whether Miller will face any charges resulting from the crash.
