Google introduces Twi Voice Search: “Key milestone”

  • Twi is now available on some Google services, including Google Voice Search and Gboard talk-to-type
  • Thanks to a new update from Google, twi speakers can search, type and translate twi directly using voice commands

Twi is now available on Google Voice Search, Gboard talk-to-type, and Google Translate voice input.

This inclusion is part of Google’s expansion of support for African languages.

This update will allow Ghanaians to search, type and translate directly in Twi using voice commands.

Support now includes 15 new languages Africa and is expected to improve accessibility for more than 300 million people.

Developed in collaboration with Google’s AI Research Center in Accra, this update enables millions of Twi speakers to communicate naturally with technology in their native language.

The new languages ​​include Chichewa, Hausa, Igbo, Tigrinya and Yoruba, bringing the total number of voice-enabled languages ​​in Africa to 25.

Alex Okosi, the Managing Director of Google Africasaid the update is an example of how Google in Africa is building technology for Africans and the world.

“This technology will make a difference to more than 300 million people across the continent – ​​allowing them to interact with the internet using just their voice.”

Google honors Chinery-Hesse
