MSU Rival Michigan loses top recruit due to desperation

Bryce Underwood of Belleville, Michigan, is the nation’s No. 1 quarterback and prospect according to 247Sports. I saw him play in person – there aren’t enough words to describe how good the prospect for 2025 looks. People often throw around the term “generational talent.” I’d use it for Underwood.

Andrew Ivins of 247Sports compared Underwood to Vince Young, perhaps the most dominant college quarterback of all time. Ivins also named Underwood a first-round pick.

“Potential franchise signal caller with the ideal mix of size, arm talent and athleticism,” Ivins wrote. “Had shown no shortage of field command midway through his senior season, which makes sense given the resume: 48-plus career starts and 165-plus touchdowns to his name. Those numbers are compounded by the fact that he’s extremely young for the grade and doesn’t will do.” turns 20 years old until his third year in college… However, the biggest revelation in his final pre-season campaign is his ability to move the chains with his legs while building speed and evading defenders like an open field runner with an acrobatics. frame that stands north of 6 feet and weighs 215 pounds. Shows excellent pocket awareness for his age and is not one to panic when pressure increases.

“Does best to stay on target and hit his targets with authority, showing his ability to not only challenge tight coverage windows with speed over the middle, but also get to the second and third levels with both touch and anticipation throwing. Projects as a multi- A one-year impact player for a College Football Playoff candidate who with his tools has a chance to eventually emerge as a first-round pick in the NFL Draft He may need a semester or two to to find his position, but he has the ability to chase and distribute big plays. Keeping this move off the field may be difficult, even though he is still learning how to dissect complex defenses.”

That scouting report yields a lot. Maybe that’s why the Michigan Wolverines are desperate to get rid of Underwood from LSU. They are reportedly offering a $5 million NIL package to match the Tigers. All this attention must pay off, because it’s costing the Wolverines more than money.

They just lost a four-star, blue-chip quarterback commitment in Carter Smith. The No. 14 quarterback in the class according to 247Sports Composite. Ivins praised Smith.

“Scrappy dual-threat quarterback who finds ways to win games,” Ivins wrote. “…Should be viewed as a mobile signal caller with tools to mold. Probably needs a lot of time to improve mechanics and footwork, but has everything needed to take a Power Four offense to the next level lift the quarterback wants to move around and get them involved in the run game.

Smith is an elite talent and it will hurt even more if the Wolverines don’t pull off the magic trick and land Underwood. If it costs them Brady Hart, all bets are off.
