Weekend of fresh air highlights some of the best interviews and reviews from the past few weeks, as well as new programming elements tailored specifically for the weekend. Our weekend show emphasizes interviews with writers, filmmakers, actors and musicians, and often includes excerpts from live concerts in the studio. This week:

Undone by the loss of his brother Eddie, Alex Van Halen looks back in a new memoir: Although Alex had been the guitarist in the family, it quickly became clear who would play when they formed Van Halen: “(Ed) made that instrument sing.” Alex’s new memoir is Brothers.

Netflix’s ‘Pedro Páramo’ stays true to the text – and disorientation – of Juan Rulfo’s timeless novel: Contributor Carolina Miranda discusses a new cinematic interpretation of Rulfo’s 1955 novel about a man who searches for the father he has never met, only to discover that his father is dead and that the village he lived in is haunted by ghosts .

For painter Titus Kaphar, forgiveness is ‘a burden that falls from your shoulders’: In his film, Kaphar draws on his own painful relationship with his father, Show forgiveness. He says the project has given him “a sympathy for my father that I never had as a young man.”
