Walmart shoplifting suspects arrested with more than just stolen goods

Two shoplifting suspects were caught with more than just stolen goods after fleeing a Walmart store in The Villages.

Tamela Davis, 35, of Wildwood, and Brett Allen Vogel, 35, of Bushnell, entered the store at Buffalo Ridge Plaza around 4 p.m. Thursday, grabbed a shopping cart and headed to the Halloween decoration aisle, according to a police arrest report . Sumter County Sheriff’s Office. They visited another part of the store and left through the grocery section with $660 worth of merchandise they had not paid for. They loaded the merchandise into a red Mercury Mariner. A deputy soon arrived on the scene.

In addition to the merchandise, a search of the vehicle also yielded a .32-caliber Smith & Wesson revolver and 25 rounds of ammunition. Additionally, drug paraphernalia containing the residue of methamphetamine was found in the car.

Vogel is a convicted felon who is currently on probation and is classified as a traffic offender. Last year, he was arrested after he was caught riding a motorcycle in Wildwood. He was arrested on charges of robbery, possession of a firearm but a convicted felon and possession of drug paraphernalia. He was booked into the Sumter County Detention Center without bond.

Davis was arrested on theft charges and was also booked into jail. Her bond was set at $150.
