Suspect arrested after two police officers were injured in shooting in South LA

LOS ANGELES (KABC) — Hours later, a suspect was found and arrested shootout in South Los Angeles Two police officers were injured, authorities said.

According to Los Angeles Police, the suspect was taken into custody around 1 a.m. Saturday.

LAPD officers responded to a report of an armed robbery near the intersection of East 92nd Street and South Central Avenue at 9 p.m. Friday, officials said.

When officers arrived on the scene, the suspect opened fire, striking both officers, the LAPD said.

Police evacuated a nearby strip mall laundromat and video showed customers running in several directions, some carrying their clothes.

The armed suspect fled to a nearby neighborhood and hid from officers.

Police set up a perimeter, called a SWAT team, and shortly after, officers found the suspect with a leg injury hiding in a vehicle just steps from the scene. It is not known how the suspect was injured.

The officers recovered on Saturday after being taken to a hospital with minor injuries.

According to police, another person, possibly a victim of the robbery, suffered a forehead injury.
