Strictly Come Dancing fans were divided over the same thing during Saturday night’s episode as Wynne Evans and Katya Jones paid tribute to Welsh icon Shirley Bassey

Strictly Come Dancing’s Wynne Evans made a cheeky request on Saturday night after a surprising twist in his performance.

The latest episode of BBC One’s Strictly saw a first with an icon-themed evening, where the remaining 10 celebrity couples each performed to songs from music legends.

There were more tweets along the same lines: “It’s not a singing competition #strictly” and there were even calls for clarity: “Someone want to tell Wynn he doesn’t get points for singing!”.

Not all feedback was confusing, as some praised the performance: “I really loved Wynne’s routine and the powerful and inspiring message it gave, not to mention the amazing vocal finish at the end! He should really be proud!” #Strictly” and echoed by another: “Wynne was amazing! #Strictly!”.

The buzz follows news that Lauren Oakley, a professional dancer with no celebrity partner this season on BBC One’s hit dance show, took the place of JLS star JB Gill, 37, when his regular partner Amy Dowden suddenly fell ill during filming from last weekend.

Amy, 34, is reportedly recovering after her health scare that led to her being hospitalized. She missed Sunday’s results show and took a break from this week’s dancefloor action.
