Three people rescued from the west wall after the ship collision

CHARLESTOWN, R.I. (WLNE) – Three people were rescued off the west wall of the Charlestown Breachway after a vessel collision Monday afternoon.

At 12:17 p.m., Charlestown Rescue, Charlestown Police, and Dunn’s Corners Fire Department were dispatched to a report of a vessel collision with multiple people in the water.

Police identified three people on the western wall of the breach who were involved in the collision, according to Charlestown Ambulance Rescue Service on Facebook.

Various lifeguards and firefighters entered from Blue Shutters Beach and headed toward the west wall to retrieve individuals.

Rescue swimmers helped transfer one swimmer, while the other two were helped to wade through the water.

One of the swimmers was transported to Rhode Island Hospital.
