Bristol man jailed for throwing rockets during summer riots

Judge Edward Burgess said that by Hussein throwing the items, he “added fuel to a fire already started.”

“Even though you did not play a major role in the disturbance, you still contributed to this very violent disturbance which placed the public, and especially the officers, at extreme risk,” the judge said.

Hussein is the 34th person sentenced in connection with the riots that took place over the summer.

Det Ch Insp Tom Herbert said Hussein’s actions “contributed significantly” to the riots on August 3 in Bristol.

“We have consistently made clear that we will not tolerate the brutal behavior we saw that day, and over 30 people have been convicted, the majority of whom are currently serving prison sentences,” he said.
