UEFA Champions League predictions: round 10/22

The 2024–25 UEFA Champions League returns on October 22 after the October international break. Headlining this week’s fixture list will be the final two rematches in UCL’s recent history. The SI Soccer editorial team gives you our predictions for each match.

Prediction: Monaco 2–0 Red Star (Max Mallow)

Monaco defended a point in their last match against Dinamo Zagreb thanks to two late goals from Mohammed Salisu and Denis Zakaria. It’s a disappointing result considering the hard work AS Monaco put in to start the season with three points against Barcelona. AS Monaco, which is tied on points and in first place in Ligue 1, recorded its second victory in the league stage.

Prediction: AC Milan 2–0 Club Brugge (Braden Chalker)

The Rossoneri take three points in Europe with goals from USMNT star Christian Pulisic and Álvaro Morata. AC Milan should simply be too much of a challenge for Club Brugge.

Prediction: Arsenal 3–0 Shakhtar Donetsk (Max Mallow)

Arsenal last kept a clean sheet against PSG, beating the Ligue 1 side by two goals. After a disappointing Premier League defeat at the weekend, Mikel Arteta’s side secured three more points with a dominant home win.

Prediction: Juventus 2-1 VfB Stuttgart (Braden Chalker)

Juventus took three wins out of three in the Champions League and returned to the field against VfB Stuttgart. The visitors strike early at the Allianz Stadium, but Thiago Motta’s side rally to take the three points.

Prediction: SK Sturm Graz 1-3 Sporting CP (Max Mallow)

Sporting CP’s Viktor Gyökeres scored 12 goals in 10 games in the Portuguese League and Champions League. The Swedish striker will be too difficult for SK Sturm Graz, which is still looking for its first points in the league stage.

Prediction: Real Madrid 2–0 Borussia Dortmund (Amanda Langell)

Carlo Ancelotti’s men have not dropped points at the Santiago Bernabéu yet this season and should secure a confident victory over a Dortmund team that has not won in its last three away games in the Bundesliga. Real Madrid won the rematch of last season’s final.

Prediction: PSG 2–0 PSV Eindhoven (Max Mallow)

Luis Enrique’s PSG is unbeaten in eight Ligue 1 games and expect a positive result against the Eredivisie leaders after beating Strasbourg four times last weekend.

Prediction: Girona 2–1 Slovan Bratislava (Max Mallow)

Both teams will go into the match looking for their first points in the UCL league stage. Slovan Bratislava conceded nine goals in the first two matches, scoring only one. Girona lost two heartbreakers to PSG and Feyenoord. In a closely fought match, Girona emerged victorious at home and it was a must-win.

Prediction: Aston Villa 2–1 Bologna (Max Mallow)

Despite winning only one of their last three Premier League matches, Aston Villa have a chance to remain an excellent team in the Champions League. A victory against Bologna will significantly help in securing a place in the top eight of the league stage.
