Parallels of the Romantic Warrior Prognosis | RACING.COM

According to connections, Japanese title challenger Cox Plate’s forecast is “almost on par” with 2023 winner Romantic Warrior.

Assistant trainer Yasunari Kiyoyama is confident that the seven-year-old trained by Mitsumasa Nakauchida is in perfect condition ahead of Saturday’s race at The Valley.

“We have been preparing for this weekend for a long time, we are 100 percent ready,” Kiyoyama said through a translator.

“He is a very honest horse, he tries his best, he has a really good turn in a straight line, and his speed will definitely be his strong point.

“We are well aware that Pride Of Jenni will lead the race… we need to be close enough to catch her in the straight.”

The situation remains optimistic, the Group 1 rider can compete on Australian soil and in the race, which means a lot to the team and fans in Japan.

“(The) Cox Plate is very well known in Japan, (it’s) a very famous race,” Kiyoyama added.

“The prognosis is on par with Romantic Warrior… we believe he is at almost the same level and will fit into the race very well.

“This is our most important goal. Winning Group 1 in Japan would be great, but winning Group 1 internationally would be huge for the team.”
