Torquay United beat Worthing 2-1 after a second-half comeback

Torquay United moved up to third in the National League South after conceding a goal and beating midfielders Worthing 2-1 on Plainmoor.

Jack Spong’s long-range shot gave Worthing the lead in the 36th minute, but substitute Omar Mussa, who came on at half-time, equalized six minutes after the restart.

Jay Foulston scored from a corner in the 71st minute to extend Torquay’s unbeaten run to four games.

“It’s a really good evening for us,” Gulls boss Paul Wotton told BBC Radio Devon.

“I thought for a neutral show, I’m sure it was a great match.

“A packed Plainmoor and coming back from 1-0 down doesn’t happen very often, so that’s really nice.”
