Shocking video revealed that a wrong-way driver, possibly drunk, almost hit Kamala Harris’ motorcade in Milwaukee on Monday evening, October 21. According to WISN 12, the driver, a 55-year-old local resident, allegedly took the exit onto the wrong side of I-794 at St. Paul Avenue, then passed the vice president and her entourage, WISN 12 reports.

The driver was seen swerving into the left lane as he passed the first car in the convoy, and then about a dozen other cars followed him. One of the vehicles was reportedly taking Harris to the airport.

The last car in the group was driven by a Milwaukee County sheriff’s deputy, who then stopped the driver and arrested him. Initial findings show that the man was arrested after failing a sobriety test.

What follows from the arrest report

The arrest report states that when the deputy told him he “almost hit a vehicle in the VPOTUS column, he was extremely surprised and did not recall entering the highway or coming close to hitting another vehicle.” “He also stated that he had no intention of harming Vice President Kamala Harris or anyone associated with her campaign,” the arrest report added. The report shows that an open can of beer was also found in the driver’s car.

The man was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence and second-degree recklessly endangering safety and was jailed without bail. According to reports, the Secret Service claims that it was aware of the incident. The Secret Service also thanked the sheriff’s office for arresting the man.

U.S. Secret Service spokesman Joe Biesk said the agency “is aware of an incident involving a driver traveling in the opposite direction on a highway while the vice president was in the convoy,” CNN reported. “We are grateful to the Milwaukee County Sheriff’s Office for their response, which allowed the driver to be stopped and arrested for DUI,” he added in a statement.
