Haywire Announces New EP ‘For Better Or For Gorse’: Listen to ‘Feeling Depressed?’

Boston hardcore band Haywire specializes in a crazy, ignorant form of thugdom that has deep roots in their city’s hardcore history. Earlier this year, Haywire released their debut album Conditioned for demolitionand have been playing physical, unpredictable live shows ever since. I saw them open this year’s Drain summer tour and they immediately got people moving – not easy when you’re the first band with a six-band bill. Haywire doesn’t waste any time releasing new music; they just announced For better or for worsenew EP which will be released in a few weeks.

Haywire recorded them For better or for worse EP with Will Hirst and Austin Sparkman and heavy music great Taylor Young mixed it. Guest stars include members Fleshwater and Loosey. The opening track “Feeling Depressed?” is a furious, guttural attack whose lyrics talk about suicidal thoughts. One of the coolest things about hardcore is that a song can be incredibly vulnerable while still making you feel like you have a solid skin of steel, and this breakdown is a textbook example.
