Amarillo man charged with drug distribution and possession charges

AMARILLO, Texas (KFDA) – An Amarillo man was indicted Thursday on several drug distribution and possession charges.

According to court documents, Nehemias Rodriguez was charged with three counts of possession with intent to distribute methamphetamine and one count of possession with intent to distribute cocaine.

Officials say a confidential DEA source made a recorded phone call to Rodriguez in August to arrange a meeting to purchase a quarter pound of meth for $700.

Court documents show the source arrived at a predetermined location in Amarillo on August 14 around 7:37 p.m.

Rodriguez provided them with a zip-lock bag containing a white crystalline substance. They then provided Rodriguez with the money in the form of official advances.

The substance was sent to a laboratory where it tested positive for meth.

Officials say the source made another recorded phone call to Rodriguez in September to arrange a meeting to purchase a pound of meth for $2,000.

Court documents show the source had another meeting with Rodriguez around 6:35 a.m. on September 5 and exchanged the drugs for money.

The crystalline substance was taken to a laboratory where it tested positive for meth.

According to the DEA, the seized drugs totaled $20,920.
