Two shoplifting suspects arrested after police chase, accident

BELLINGHAM, Mass. (WPRI) – Two Woonsocket men were arrested Thursday after allegedly leading Bellingham police on a chase following a shoplifting incident.

Shortly after a local store owner reported the shoplifting around 3:10 p.m., the two men drove away with a woman who police said was not involved in the criminal activity.

Bellingham officers stopped their car on the way to the crime scene. During the stop, a passenger reportedly pushed the driver out of the car and took off, prompting the woman to jump out before the vehicle sped away.

At that time, police said 22-year-old Yadriel Rodrigues, the original driver, was taken into custody.

The fleeing suspect, later identified as Jonavin Camacho, 23, crashed shortly afterwards and tried to run away. Officers quickly surrounded the area and arrested him.

Police said the driver of the vehicle struck by Camacho was taken to a local hospital with apparent minor injuries.

According to police, both men are facing multiple charges.
