Columbia teen charged with armed robbery

COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)

A teenager has been charged in connection with an armed robbery that allegedly occurred over the summer.

Styles Carter, 18, of Columbia, was charged with first-degree robbery and first-degree burglary. He is being held in the Boone County Jail without bond. No court date has been scheduled. A mugshot was not immediately available Friday evening.

According to a probable cause statement, police were called to the 5000 block of Clark Lane at 1:24 a.m. on July 31. The caller claimed they had been robbed about 25 minutes earlier, the statement said.

The victim told police they were at a friend’s house when they recognized Carter, the affidavit said. Another man with Carter reportedly had a gun in their waistband, the affidavit said. Carter and the man were in a 2013 Ford Fusion during the robbery, court documents allege.

Court documents allege Carter told the other man to get his gun and the man pointed it at the victims. Carter then allegedly demanded money, the statement said. According to court documents, the victims handed over $400.

Carter and the other man then drove away, the statement said. One of the victims was able to provide Carter’s Instagram information, but claimed Carter blocked their account after the incident, court documents allege.

A second probable cause affidavit was included in the lawsuit, alleging that Carter and another man entered a home on May 26 and attempted to steal a telephone. One of the victims was able to recognize Carter’s voice, the statement said. A man with Carter allegedly pulled out a gun and pointed it at one of the residents.
