South Africans love the no-nonsense attitude of the police lately.

Citizens celebrate the fact that officers killed four armed robbers earlier today, October 26.

The group was killed on the R59 in Alberton during a shootout with police.

Group confrontation on the way to committing crime

According to Gauteng Police Commissioner Lieutenant General Tommy Mthombeni, the group was on its way to commit a crime when police stopped them.

“The suspects were about to rob businesses in the area. While the police followed them and tried to stop them. When they tried to stop them, they started shooting at the police. The police retaliated and in the process four suspects died on the spot,” he said.

Police also confirmed that the operation was carried out by carious SAPS units working with private units security and tracking companies.

South Africans happy with the news

Social media users praised police for their decisiveness, with some crediting the Provincial Commissioner of Police KwaZulu-NatalLieutenant General Nhlanhla Mkhwanazi, for inspiring other parts of the country to follow his example.

Mkhwanazi warns criminals not to shoot at police officers

In a related article, Short news reported that KwaZulu-Natal SAPS provincial commissioner Lieutenant General Nhlanhla Mkhwanazi had warned criminals not to shoot at police.

This was after the police in the province shot dead suspects during a shootout. The suspects started shooting and police responded.
