Altoona Police Help Deliver ‘Drug Take Back’

Altoona Police Help Deliver ‘Drug Take Back’

ALTOONA, Wis. (WEAU) – Thousands of medications were thrown away for National Prescription Drug Take Back Day.

Community members in Eau Claire were able to bring medications and sharps boxes of used needles to drop-off locations at the Altoona Police Department and the Eau Claire Government Center.

Police Department officials say through this event they hope to help everyone stay safe.

“Unused recipes or expired recipes that people may not know what to do with. So they can drop that off here at a secure location, rather than just sitting at their house where maybe kids can get into it or be abused,” Officer Jared Rico said.

Officer Jared Rico is a police officer with the Altoona Police Department.

Agent Rico says the take-back campaign will continue next year.
