Cox Plate placegetter Broadsiding will not compete in Saturday’s Group 1 Victoria Derby (2500m) at Flemington, where a race on Champion Stakes Day is now favorite for the prized colt.

Godolphin coach James Cummings confirmed the Derby was off the radar for Broadsiding at the launch of Melbourne Cup week on Monday.

Cummings said the Too Darn Hot colt had come through the memorable Cox Plate race, where he beat the likes of Mr Brightside and Docklands in good order.

Three-time Group 1 winner Broadsiding would be the favorite in Saturday’s G1 classic and his withdrawal leaves El Castello, winner of last Saturday’s Spring Champion Stakes, at the top of the market ahead of Vase (2040m) winner Red Aces.

Broadsiding is expected to compete in the $3 million Champions Stakes (2000 million) or the $3 million Champions Mile (1600 million) on November 9 at Flemington.
