Drug seizure in Pearl River leads to arrest

Rockland County, NY – Rockland County District Attorney Thomas E. Walsh II announced that Darryl Wright, a 41-year-old Pearl River resident, had been arrested and charged with Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the First Degree. This arrest followed a six-month investigation by the Rockland County District Attorney’s Office Drug Task Force into narcotics sales in Orangetown.

On Wednesday, a search of Wright’s Pearl River home by Drug Task Force detectives and Orangetown police resulted in the seizure of two kilograms of cocaine, heroin and additional drug paraphernalia. The operation is a sign of efforts by local police to intercept drug trafficking in the community.

District Attorney Walsh emphasized that the arrest underscores a strong stand against illegal drug activity in Rockland County. The investigation included joint efforts with the Rockland County Probation Department and the Orangetown Police Department’s Detective and Patrol Division.

Wright was arraigned Wednesday before Judge Patrick Loftus in Orangetown District Court and was ordered held without bail in the Rockland County Jail. Executive Assistant District Attorney Michael Dugandzic and Assistant District Attorney John Luongo have been assigned to handle the case.
