Woman allegedly caught stealing more than ,000 from Walmart

WILKES-BARRE TWP., LUZERNE COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — A woman was arrested after police say she was under the influence while trying to steal more than $1,000 worth of items from Walmart.

According to Wilkes-Barre Township police, on October 24 around 2:30 p.m., 40-year-old Diana Alai was caught shoplifting $1,234.65 worth of merchandise from Walmart.

Police say Alai was found under the influence and officers seized suspected crystal meth, found in a pill bottle with her name in a bag she had stolen.

The day before, officers reported that Alai was arrested around 12:34 p.m. when she was suspected of shoplifting, and then again after being found intoxicated in public outside Big Lots at 4:16 p.m.

Later, around 7:39 p.m., Alai was taken to the hospital after being found intoxicated at the Wilkes-Barre Township Commons, where police said, “She couldn’t even formulate a sentence or stand on her own.”

Alai was charged and then taken to the Luzerne County Jail on $5,000 bail.
