Blue Angels and US Air Force Thunderbirds plan rare joint flyover (Details)

PENSACOLA, Fla. (WKRG) – Northwest Florida residents looking to the sky next week may see a rare sight as the U.S. Army’s premier flight demonstration squadrons and the U.S. Navy Blue Angels team up.

According to a news release from NAS Pensacola, the partnership is for what officials say is a rare joint flyover called the “Super Delta.”

The Blue Angel and Thunderbird flyover is scheduled to open at 11:30 a.m. Oct. 30 and is expected to be visible from several locations along the Gulf Coast.

“The areas in the city of Pensacola where the ‘Super Delta’ formation will be seen during the Wednesday, October 30 spectacle include Johnson Beach, Pensacola Beach, Oriole Beach and Palafox Street in downtown Pensacola,” the release said. “Individuals traveling to these areas are advised to adhere to local traffic regulations and be courteous to motorists and pedestrians.”

NAS Pensacola officials said times could change or there could be a cancellation due to future circumstances. Updates on the upcoming flyover can be found on the NAS Pensacola Blue Angels Homecoming Airshow website.
