North Korea sending troops to Russia would be in accordance with international law

SEOUL, October 25. /TASS/. North Korea cannot confirm media reports that it has sent its troops to Russia, but even if that were true, it would be in accordance with the norms of international law, Vice Foreign Minister Kim Jong Gyu said .

“I think if what the world media is buzzing about happened, it would be in accordance with international law,” the spokesperson said. Korean Central News Agency quoted the senior diplomat. “I think there are clearly forces that want to classify this (action) as illegal,” he underlined.

Kim Jong Gyu pointed out that he has seen “versions of the deployment of North Korean forces in Russia that have recently been circulated in the world media.” “The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has no direct relationship with the affairs of the Ministry of Defense. I do not see the need to confirm such information separately,” the senior diplomat said.

Earlier, during a press conference on the results of the BRICS summit, Russian President Vladimir Putin commented on reports of available satellite images allegedly showing the transfer of North Korean soldiers to Russia. Putin called the satellite images a ‘serious matter’, but emphasized that NATO soldiers had been directly involved in the Ukrainian conflict for a long time.
