Yum! To notice (YUM) has taken precautions by remove fresh onions from select Taco Bell, Pizza Hut and KFC locations in response to a recent E. coli outbreak that has had an impact on the restaurant industry.

“As a precaution, we proactively remove fresh onions” a Yum! Brands’ spokesperson confirmed this to Quartz. The parent company did not reveal which locations or regions were involved and which onion suppliers were involved.

The parent company said it will “continue to follow guidelines from suppliers and regulators to ensure the continued safety and quality of our food,” the spokesperson added. Shares of Yum! Brands fell slightly in late afternoon trading.

Yum! Brands is not alone in this onion crisis; McDonald’s has proposed the E. coli outbreak may be related to the raw onions used on the Quarter Pounders. To date, the outbreak has resulted in 49 reported cases in ten states, numerous hospitalizations and one death. It led to it one lawsuit. In addition, McDonald’s (MCD) to snatch the Quarter Pounder from 20% of his over 14,000 US locations.

Food distributors such as US Foods (USFD) and Sysco Corp. have expressed concerns about the use of the affected onions. In addition, Taylor Farms, one of McDonald’s suppliers, has issued a recall for its yellow onions, despite no E. coli being detected.

Like Yum! Brands told Sysco to Quartz that it is closely monitoring the situation during the crisis ongoing probe by public health inspectors, including the Food and Drug Administration (FDA), the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA), and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). The USDA analyzes the beef patties in the burgers, while the FDA is concentrate on the onions.

On Wall Street, financial firm Baird has done just that downgraded McDonald’s stock ratingciting a drop in sales linked to the E. coli outbreak. The burger giant will announce its earnings on October 29.
