Coldplay, Diljit Dosanjh concert tickets: ED conducts raid in 5 states, finds 'irregularities'

NEW DELHI: In an effort to tackle illegal practices ticket sales for upcoming concerts Cold play And Diljit Dosanjhthe Enforcement Directorate (ED) on Saturday launched search operations in five states of the country: Delhi, Mumbai, Jaipur, Chandigarh and Bangalore. After the raid, the investigation agency said it had discovered “irregularities” in the home money laundering to research black marketing of tickets for these events.
This action comes in the wake of numerous FIRs filed in various states alleging fraudulent ticket sales for the much-awaited events.
The raids were aimed at curbing illegal ticket sales for Dosanjh’s ‘Dilluminati’ tour, which begins on October 26 in Delhi NCR, and Coldplay’s ‘Music of the Spheres World Tour’, scheduled for January 18 and 19 next year at the DY Patil Stadium in Mumbai.
“Searches and investigation conducted by ED have revealed information about several persons known for issuing such tickets, including fake tickets through social media using Instagram, WhatsApp and Telegram,” the ED said in a statement .
High demand for tickets has fueled black market sales, with fans faced with counterfeit tickets or legitimate tickets at heavily inflated prices. Numerous FIRs have been filed across the country, including a complaint by Bookmyshow against several suspects accused of exploiting concertgoers by selling fake tickets and sharply increasing prices for these sought-after events.
In response, the ED launched an investigation under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act on October 25 and conducted searches at more than 13 locations in five states: Delhi, Mumbai, Jaipur, Bengaluru and Chandigarh.
During these operations, the investigating agency reportedly seized several items including mobile phones, laptops and SIM cards used in the fraudulent activities.
ED’s investigation has also revealed the alleged involvement of persons distributing fake tickets through social media platforms such as Instagram, WhatsApp and Telegram.
