Suspects of robbery at Roodepoort jewelry store appear in court – LNN

Seven men between the ages of 27 and 36 are said to have been involved in the murder Jewelry store robbery Tuesday at Clearwater Mall in Roodepoort, Gauteng, appeared before the Roodepoort Magistrate’s Court yesterday.

National Prosecuting Authority spokesperson Phindi Mjonondwane confirmed that the men are charged with aggravated robbery, attempted murder, possession of firearms and malicious damage to property.

Eight armed robbers burst into Wolf Brothers Jewelers, held employees at gunpoint and made off with a significant amount of jewelry.

The robbery escalated dramatically when police and several security companies intercepted the suspects outside the mall, leading to a shootout during their escape attempt.

Four suspects were arrested on the spot, while one fled with the others in a getaway car. Quick police action and community assistance led to the arrest of three more suspects in Dobsonville, Soweto.

The case was adjourned until Thursday to give the suspect time to appoint legal representatives.
