Officers confront armed suspect during standoff at Fairfield Home, suspect

Yesterday, around 6:30 p.m., officers were called to a scene on the 2800 block of Elmhurst Circle, where reports indicated a 58-year-old man was causing a theatrical disturbance, police said. Social media post from Fairfield Police Department.

Two of the man’s relatives managed to escape and took refuge in a neighbor’s house before police arrived. Authorities revealed that the suspect, armed and dangerous, made threats to the home. This led to the use of the Bearcat, an armored vehicle designed for high-risk situations.

As police worked to defuse the situation, the man retreated into the home and pointed his gun at officers from a second-floor window. This act led to an officer-involved shooting, during which officers shot at the suspect. After the man was hit, he retreated out of sight, prompting the SWAT team to take control of the situation.

SWAT officers later found the suspect deceased inside the home, although the exact cause of death remains unconfirmed. The man’s identity has not been released as authorities await notification from his family and continue their investigation into the incident.

Meanwhile, the two family members who initially escaped were treated at a local hospital for injuries inflicted by the suspect. The Solano County District Attorney’s Major Crimes Task Force is now investigating the officer-involved shooting, and further details are expected to emerge as the investigation continues.
