Saudi Arabia executes two for drug smuggling and murder

KUWAIT CITY, Oct 27: The Saudi Interior Ministry has released statements confirming the execution of two individuals for serious crimes, signaling a strict commitment to enforcing Sharia-based judicial rulings. The first person, a Jordanian national identified as HT, was arrested for smuggling synthetic drugs into Saudi Arabia. After an investigation, he was indicted, and his conviction was upheld by the Supreme Court and confirmed by Royal Decree. His discretionary sentence was carried out on October 16, 2024 in the Tabuk region.

The second case involved a Saudi national, AA, who was found guilty of murder after fatally stabbing another Saudi national, Mazen bin Mufreh Al-Mazni. The court charged AA with first-degree murder, and after exhausting his appeal, his sentence was carried out in Asir, also on October 16, 2024.

In its statement, the ministry emphasized Saudi Arabia’s commitment to justice, maintaining security and the application of Sharia law in violent crimes, and warned others against similar crimes.
