Homeowner hospitalized after violent robbery in Oberholzer

A homeowner from Oberholzer ended up in the hospital after being attacked by home robbers this week.

The incident happened on October 17 in Oranjestraat.

The owner had just returned from his daily walk at about 1.50pm and went into the sitting room to have lunch with his wife.

Suddenly, three unknown African men burst into the kitchen. One had a piece of iron, while one of the others carried a gwala.

They began hitting the homeowner on the head and arms with the iron until the owner and his wife handed them their cell phones, jewelry and a 6.35 Baby Browning pistol.

The thieves then ran away.

The owner was taken to Fountain Private Hospital for treatment for his injuries. Fortunately, he has already been released.
