Knife, air pistol and ‘stolen’ belongings are thrown out of Carlton’s flat window during a police visit

A man has been arrested after weapons were thrown from a flat window Carlton Square after a visit by officers.

Police had called the apartment about an unrelated incident, but no one answered.

As they left, officers were told that weapons had just been thrown from a window at the same address. They searched the space beneath the building and found a knife and an air pistol on the floor outside.

A silver chain, bank cards, a set of keys and a driver’s license were also recovered on Thursday around 7:35 pm (24).

Believing the items had been thrown from a window of the flat they had just visited, police returned to the address and arrested a suspect.

The police system showed that some items matched the description of items taken during a knife robbery about two weeks earlier.

A teenager was reportedly threatened and forced to hand over his belongings during this incident, also in Carlton Square, at around 5.55pm on October 11.

The 22-year-old man who was arrested by officers on Thursday was subsequently arrested on suspicion of theft.

Sergeant Ashley Taylor, of Nottinghamshire Police, said: “Robbery is an incredibly serious crime that can have a lasting impact on victims, so we are obviously pleased to have made this arrest.

“The awareness of the officers present allowed us to do this, after they took immediate action based on intelligence coming in to search the area and locate various items.

“These included two weapons – a knife and an air pistol – as well as a selection of belongings allegedly stolen during a robbery earlier this month.

“This incident should be a great example of the role the public can play in helping to solve crime, so we are asking people to continue to report offenses to us by calling 101.”
