Ballot boxes burned in Washington’s Key Swing district

The FBI is investigating two ballot boxes that were set on fire early Monday morning, including one in a crucial swing district in Washington state.

MSNBCs Andrea Mitchell reported Monday: “Breaking news from the Pacific Northwest. State election officials are working to determine how many ballots were destroyed overnight after two apparent arsons.

“Apparently drop-off ballot boxes were targeted in Vancouver, Washington and Portland, Oregon. Police found an incendiary device, which is their frame, in the ballot box in Portland. Provincial elections officials participation fire extinguisher in the mailbox protected almost all the ballots. Only three were damaged. But officials in Vancouver fear hundreds of ballots could have been damaged or even destroyed. It is not clear whether the two are connected. The FBI is investigating,” Mitchell added.

Cook Politics Dave Wasserman later pointed out the importance of ballot measures to the balance of power in the U.S. House of Representatives. “This is in #WA03. In 2022, Marie Gluesenkamp Perez (D) beat alone Joe Kent (R) here with 2,629 votes. The rematch is one toss,Wasserman wrote on X.
