Suspect accused of robbing Walgreens with a money order scheme

LAFAYETTE, La. (KLFY) — Lafayette Police Department investigators need the public’s help in identifying a person charged with theft in connection with a $3,000 money order that was only half paid.

According to police, the person in the photo is charged with simple robbery.

According to a news release, the suspect paid for a $3,000 money order. The suspect then allegedly took the victim’s money after the amount was verified, folded several bills under the stack and hid $1,600 of the $3,000 in her purse.

“The suspect left the scene with the $3,000 money order after paying only $1,400 for it,” police said in the news release.
